Finecam Series - FAQ's

  1. Problems with the tv connection
The tv output from the camera does not go into the aerial lead. Please make sure you connect the lead to your ‘video in’ socket. You should then find your camera is available on one of your av channels.
  2. Connection to the pc
The camera (or card reader if you have an S3) does not use a twain interface, instead, it appears in ‘my computer’ as a removable disk drive. Please just copy the images from the camera/card reader (they are in the DCIM\100kcbox folder) and paste them in a location of your choice in your ‘c’ drive.
You can then use your photo-editing software (PhotoImpression/Pixela etc) to look at or edit your pictures. Problems can also be caused if the camera is plugged into a USB extension hub. Shut the computer down, plug the USB lead directly into the computer and start the computer.
  3. The pictures are huge
If you just double click on an image, it may open into ‘Internet Explorer’. If it does, it may appear VERY large. This is due to the version of Internet Explorer. Please upgrade to version 6, as this version will re-size the picture to fit on your screen.
  4. Logo testing warning
If you use Windows XP or Windows 2000 and get a warning about Windows logo testing when you first connect your camera, just click to continue.
  5. System not adequate warning
If you get a message, “The operating system is not adequate for running Kyocera Camera USB Device 2”, usually with Windows XP/S3L camera, ignore it. The camera will function via your standard USB port and the drivers are incorporated into the XP operating system.
  6. Batteries don’t last very long
To maximise battery life, use the optical viewfinder for composition, but note that the LCD MUST be used for close-ups, to obtain precise composition.
  7. Software…
It is not absolutely necessary to use the editing software supplied with the camera – the vast majority of image editing software is suitable.
